How we value your van

Home > Sell my van > How we value your van

Gaining the right price for your van is important, so the more we know, the better. These are the key factors that help us determine the value:

Mileage

One of the biggest determining factors in valuing your van is its mileage. While lower mileage can make your van easier to sell, it doesn’t always mean it will be worth more.

Previous Owners

The number of owners a van has had will also affect its value. You can find this information on your V5C document. Vans with more than one owner per year will be worth less than those with which haven’t changed hands so frequently.

Service History

If your van has a fully up-to-date service history through a VAT registered dealer, it’s likely that the value will be higher than a van with a partial service history.

Colour & Condition

The coulour of your van can also have an impact on the valuation we provide as some colours are more popular than others.

Insurance Write-off

If your vehicle has been involved in a vehicle collision you may be informed by the insurance company that the van is a write off. Essentially, this means that the vehicle is beyond economical repair. This will undoubtedly affect the value we provide.

Please note that we perform an HPI on every vehicle we purchase and this report clearly indicates to us whether the vehicle has been involved in any insurance claims.

To start your online van valuation, all you need do is enter your van’s registration number.

Once our database has identified your van model, you will have the chance to give us more information about your van so that we can provide you with the most accurate valuation.

To complete the process follow these simple steps:

Step 1:

We ask you to confirm that the van we have identified is your van.

Step 2:

If you have any additional specifications or features, e.g. Leather seats, Satellite Navigation etc. fitted to your van, then you’ll need to tick the appropriate boxes.

Step 3:

Tell us a bit more about your vehicle. This is key to gaining the correct value for your van. Mileage, the number of previous owners, service history, if it’s a write off, colour and condition all impact your van’s value.

Step 4:

If your van's bodywork is in showroom condition, the value of your van will be much higher than one with dents and scratches. It’s worth bearing in mind that to paint just one door panel on a van could cost at least £200.

Step 5:

So that we are able to contact you, please tell us your name, phone number, email address and postcode. Once completed, we provide you with your unique vehicle valuation and you can book an appointment at your convenience.

Before we make an offer to purchase your vehicle, our experienced van buyers will always carry out a full on-site appraisal. This is because the perception of damage and repair costs may differ and we believe an on-site appraisal is fairer for you and us, rather than using an automated system.

Our van valuations come from over 40 years’ experience in the motor trade, so no matter what type of van you own, you can rest easy knowing you’re getting the best quote possible.
